Great music, great cause, great guy. The guy is Tim Readman, who has invited Fraser Union and The Amorphous Folk Collective to perform with him (and Allan Dionne and Gillian Hobbs) to raise funds for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

You can donate straightaway at the link below (especially if you might be unable to attend) or give at the door.

About the Artists

Tim Readman is a witty folksinger dealing in protest songs, funny songs, traditional and contemporary songs who always has a few surprises up his sleeve. He’s a songwriter, producer and music journalist. He is the leader of Canadian Celtic/folk favourites Fear of Drinking and has played many times with The Arrogant Worms as well as performing solo at folk clubs and festivals across the country and in the UK. Allan Dionne has been an active part of the Vancouver music scene for many years. He’s primarily an accordionist and percussionist but can play several other instruments. He has performed with many notables in Celtic music, such as Ashley MacIsaac and the Celtic-funk band Mad Pudding. Gillian Hobbs is a folk singer/songwriter from Vancouver, BC. Raised on ’60s-era protest songs, she rejoins the Vancouver scene after a decade-plus hiatus and a stint in Nashville with a fresh batch of timely tunes for today’s political landscape.

Fraser Union is a folk institution that started out in the early 1980s, has played countless festivals, recorded 5 CDs, and has evolved into the current trio of Barry Truter, Kathy Griffin and Roger Holdstock.  Their new album, Bridging the Gap, reflects their attention to harmonies, social content, and the joys of singing and playing together.

The Amorphous Folk Collective is a burgeoning force in the Pacific Northwest’s traditional singing scene. Their  bring a vast breadth of musical experience to their group performances. No matter which members are involved, you can expect diverse arrangements of voices and harmonies, and thematic explorations of love, loss, and resistance.
